Undermount vs. Topmount Kitchen Sink

Even though the world of kitchen sinks is large and varied, for most homeowners doing a kitchen remodel, the field narrows down to two basic configurations: top-mount or under-mount. Firstly, it’s easy to judge two type of kitchen sinks directly from the look. A topmount sink has a visible lip that rests flat on the countertop. In term of practicality, top-mount sink offers easier sink cleaning because all working areas of this sink are visible and accessible. However, the gap at the top of undermount kitchen sink becomes a magnet for food buildup, which makes it more difficult to clean the sinks. On the other hand, under-mount sink does better work in clearing the countertop, for the reason that there is no lip to form an obstruction around the sink, you can swipe food particles directly off the counter and into the sink.
