Fireclay and Vitreous China Kitchen Farm Sinks

The farm sink is once again popular in high-end kitchens. Although far more people will install an undermount stainless steel sink, there are few sinks that can be a design statement in the kitchen like farm sink. There are two popular types of white farm sinks: fireclay and vitreous china sinks and many people know little about the difference between the two type of sinks.
 
In term of technical process, fireclay sinks are made from a denser and thicker clay material and they need also to be fired at a higher temperature. This makes for a stronger and more durable quality. Generally, the production cost of fireclay sinks is much higher than vitreous china sinks.
 
While vitreous china sinks use mostly a porcelain clay and the glaze is usually applied as a thinner coating, enabling them to be fired quicker and at a lower temperature. However, as manufactured by the thinner material, vitreous china sinks can offer more option in the designs and styles. It’s one of reason that they are more popular in current market.
